La cinta es considerada la primera película expresionista de la historia y una de las películas expresionistas alemanas más influyentes. El expresionismo fue una edad dorada del cine, en donde los mayores representantes fueron: Fritz Lang, Georg Wilhelm Pabst, F.W. Murnau y Paul Wegener. El expresionismo influiría luego, por ejemplo, en Alfred Hitchcock.

Esta película es citada como la primera que introdujo la vuelta de tuerca en el cine. Fue una de las primeras películas producidas en los estudiosalemanes UFA. Destacan los decorados distorsionados que crean una atmósfera amenazante, por lo que es considera una de las mejores películas de terror de todos los tiempos.“

“Good Copy Bad Copy: A documentary about the current state of copyright and culture, cuyo título en español debe ser Copiar es Correcto Copiar es Malo: Un documental sobre el estado actual del derecho de autor y la cultura, es un filme documental sobre elderecho de autor llamado también copyright y la cultura en el contexto de Internet, la distribución de archivos (en inglés, file sharing)peer-to-peer y otros avances tecnológicos, dirigido por Andreas Johnsen, Ralf Christensen, y Henrik Moltke.

Contiene entrevistas con mucha gente que posee diferentes perspectivas sobre la aplicación del derecho de autor, incluidos abogados de derecho de autor, productores, artistas y proveedores de servicio de distribución de archivos.

Un punto central del documental se basa en la tesis que “la creatividad en sí misma no existe” y que es necesario llegar a un balance que estructure una salida al conflicto, de algunos quienes poseen los derechos de administración de la propiedad intelectual de las obras y los derechos de las actuales y futuras generaciones para crear sus expresiones culturales y artísticas.”

El filme en si es de hace 5 años (2007) pero nunca más vigente. A mi modo de ver, es una base indispensable para entender las implicaciones de la aprobación de la ley SOPA.

The film itself was released 5 years ago (2007) but it never was more valid than now. In my view, is an essential basis for understanding the implications of the adoption of the law SOPA. You can view this film in Spanish thanks to the people of Creative Commons Mexico.

En 1944 el Servicio de Información de Estados Unidos publicó el corto “Los insectos como transmisores de enfermedades”, producido por Walt Disney. Esta es una animación fue realizada como un recurso de información para evitar la dispersión y contagio del cólera. Para ello tomaron al mejor estereotipo posible, un latinoamericano llamado “Chon”, —muy posiblemente mexicano— de modos amables pero nada higiénicos. Chon es amigo de mosquitos, moscas y piojos hasta que el todopoderoso dibujante se los muestra tal como realmente son.

In 1944 the Information Service of the United States published a short ”Insects as carriers of disease,” produced by Walt Disney. This is an animation was done as an information resource to prevent the spread of cholera. Los rostros están formados por los 3 candidatos más fuertes de los 3 principales partidos de México. El resultado es entre inquietante e hilarante, así que decidimos publicarlo con un poco de antelación. ¿Por cual votaría usted?

Illugraphies for an Eliel Luna’s text for Mono 2.2 based on the game of the 30′s called “physogs” apparently invented by JacquesPenry, the creator of “Identikit”, used to catch criminals. The faces are formed by the 3 strongest candidates of the 3 major parties in Mexico. The result is between disturbing and hilarious, so we decided to publish it with a little advance. For which one would you vote?

Desde 1927, la revista Time publica el perfil de una persona, grupo, idea u objeto que “para bien o para mal, ha tenido más influencia en los eventos del año”. Bajo esta óptica, Time ha tenido en como persona del año a prácticamente todos los presidentes de EEUU desde 1932 ( como Franklin Roosvelt, que por cierto, es el único personaje que repitió el honor 3 veces), a Gandhi, a Hitler, Stalin o Churchill (considerado además “el hombre del medio siglo”), Kennedy, Juan XXIII, etc.

Pero además de tener en portada a políticos, ha tenido otras menciones interesantes, menciones que (si tomamos a Time como un indicador) nos llevan a pensar que el mundo empieza a tener una cara diferente. Hace 29 años por ejemplo, la persona del año fue la computadora (1982), en 2006 la persona del año fui yo, y tu, y todos aquellos que participamos de algún modo en la generación de contenido para internet. El creador de Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg fue la persona del 2010, y (a pesar que muchos esperaban que la persona de este año fuera Steve Jobs) este año la mención la recibe “el maifestante”, representando todos los movimientos globales que se dieron durante el año que esta por terminar.

Si bien no estoy de acuerdo con la elección de Zuckerberg, esta se me hace muy atinada… ¿ustedes que opinan?

Since 1927, newsmagazine Time has published the profile of a person, group, object or idea that: “for better or for worse, …has done the most to influence the events of the year.” Under this vision, Time have had as “person of the year” to practically everyone of the presidents of US since 1932 (like Roosvelt, who is, by the way, the only person that have been Time’s “person fo the year” three times), Gandhi, Hitler, Stalin or Churchill (considered “the man of half century”), Kennedy, pope John XXIII, etc.

But there have been not only politics on Times covers, there have been interesting mentions as well… some of them lead us to think (if we consider Time as a reflex of our times) that the world seems to get a different face. 29 years ago, for example, the “person of the year” was the computer (1982), in 2006 it was me, and you and every one of us who participate in the internet’s content. Facebook creator, Mark Zuckerberg, was the person of 2010, and (despite the fact that many people was expecting Steve Jobs to be the person of 2011) this year’s person is “the protester”, representing al off the global movements that ocurr this already ending year.

While I disagree with the choice of Zuckerberg, I found the 2011 one very accurate … What do you think?

Habitualmente no hago advertencias sobre el contenido explícito de los posts de Mono. Pero este la requiere.

Tenía duda en publicarlo por lo perturbador del contenido, pero al final me convencieron varias cosas:

1. La infografía

2. La música que acompaña las imágenes

3. Lo positivo que puede resultar como campaña contra las enfermedades venereas

4. Es una de las peores cosas que he visto. De hecho, hago un reto abierto a ver los 7:44 minutos que dura el video sin retirar los ojos del monitor y sin hacer una mueca de asco.

I do not usually make warnings about the explicit content of posts on Mono. But this requires it.

I had doubts in publishing content so disturbing but in the end I was convinced by several things:

1. the infographics

2. The music that accompanies the images

3. The fact that It can be positive as a campaign against venereal diseases

4. It is one of the worst things I’ve seen. In fact, I make an open challenge to see the 7:44 minutes thats lasts this video without removing his eyes from the monitor and without a grimace of disgust.
